Unmasking, Without Burning Your Life Down

The mask was never a character flaw. It was a survival strategy built by a smart kid who noticed, correctly, that the unedited version got punished. Decades later the bill arrives as the after-people exhaustion sleep doesn't fix, and the internet's advice is to simply stop. Simply stopping is not a plan.

You wear a wardrobe, not a mask

The work mask is not the family mask is not the group-chat mask. Mapping them by context, specifically, turns a vague ache into an inventory you can actually work with.

Run experiments, not revolutions

One behavior, one context, one instance: stim openly in your own kitchen; answer "how are you" with the true sentence; wear the ear defenders to the store. Plan it, do it, debrief it honestly. Awkward results are data, not verdicts.

You're allowed to keep some masks

Unmasking is not a purity test. Safety is real, and some rooms haven't earned the unedited version. The goal is choice: a kept mask with a job description and a review date instead of an autopay you forgot about.

The Unmasking Journal walks the whole arc in five movements, including the grief pages nobody warns you you'll need.
