A book for everyone is a book for no one in particular. The reader we serve has a particular brain, a particular body, a particular father with particular stories. Specificity is respect: it says we actually thought about you, not a demographic that contains you.
A journal lives on a nightstand for months; a question book lives on a shelf for generations. That earns real typography, covers with a point of view, paper that takes a pen. Bauhaus taught that form should serve function; midcentury taught that function could still be beautiful. We split the difference daily.
Nothing we publish runs on streaks, shame, or the pretense that capacity is constant. Miss nine days and every New River book will meet you at day ten without comment. The plan bends; you don't break.
